The House of Kimāya

Kimāya: two languages, one meaning

किमाया

A feminine name of Sanskrit origin meaning "divine," "miraculous," or "divine magic" — evoking the sacred and the transformative.

كيمياء

An Arabic word meaning "alchemy" or "chemistry" — the ancient science of turning base matter into gold, the miraculous into the real.

Our house takes its name from this confluence — because perfumery is, at its essence, an act of divine alchemy. We take the raw gifts of the earth — sacred woods, precious resins, night-blooming flowers — and distil them into something that transcends the material.

KIMĀYAكيمياءकिमाया

One name across three scripts — Latin, Arabic, and Devanagari — reflecting the confluence of traditions that define our house. The same word, the same meaning, spanning civilizations.

Ancient spice route landscape at golden hour

Rooted in India. Shaped by the Middle East. Born in America.

Heritage — India

Our roots run deep in the jasmine fields of Tamil Nadu and the sandalwood forests of Mysore. India's ancient attar tradition is in our blood — the foundation of everything we create.

Influence — The Middle East

Our sensibility was shaped by the frankincense souks of Oman and the oud merchants of the Gulf — where Arabian perfumery taught us that scent is not worn, it is experienced.

Home — The United States

Kimāya was founded in America — where these two worlds met, merged, and became something entirely new. An American house with an ancient soul.

Every Kimāya fragrance carries all three within it — the warmth of Indian spice, the soul of Arabian resin, and the vision of a new world.

Ingredients as sacred objects

We begin with ingredients chosen not only for their quality, but for where they come from and what they carry with them. Mysore sandalwood, Kashmiri saffron, Assamese oud, and Turkish damascena rose each bring a sense of place, heritage, and character to every composition.

From there, each fragrance is shaped with intention. Working alongside experienced perfumers, we bring these materials together in ways that feel layered, distinctive, and deeply personal. The result is fragrance that stays with you, not because it asks for attention, but because it leaves an impression.
